The NCCCA is part of the Adopt-a-Garden program and our volunteers meet monthly to clip, trim, plant and maintain the beautiful Pond Garden at the Alta Vista Botanical Gardens. Please bring garden gloves and hand clippers if you have them. Meet Suzanne at the entrance to the Alta Vista Botanical Gardens at 1PM or drop in anytime to help between 1 PM - 3 PM on any (or all) of the dates listed below. Special guest Leona Morgan Please join us for a Zoom presentation by Leona Morgan (Diné, she/her), a community organizer who has been fighting nuclear colonialism since 2007. The Albuquerque-based activist is a co-founder of Haul No!, an initiative to stop Energy Fuels' uranium mine near the Grand Canyon. She helped to successfully prevent a new uranium mining and processing project in Churchrock and Crownpoint, New Mexico. will unpack the Diné history of nuclear colonialism, highlight why nuclear energy is not a solution to climate change, and make connections between New Mexico and Southern California in regards to radioactive waste management."
